Schuler School Holds Grand Opening

Schuler, AB – After two years of construction, Schuler School students and staff, community members and local dignitaries celebrated the grand opening of the new Schuler School on Wednesday morning.

“A lot of people have been waiting for this day,” says Prairie Rose School Division Board Chair Stuart Angle.  “The new Schuler School will be here for many generations of families from Hilda, Schuler and area to enjoy.  It will serve as an educational hub for present and future children, host families and community events, and be a centralized location for celebration and collaboration.”

The Schuler School project was originally announced as a modernization back in 2014, but was later changed to a new construction rural prototype project funded at $6.65 million dollars.  The building size along with the overall construction budget later increased to $7.98 million dollars thanks to $1.33 million in donations.

Schuler School is the first of its kind in Alberta, demonstrating the many benefits of creating community supported, right-sized, school facilities.  Prairie Rose would like to thank all the partners who worked together on this project including; Alberta Education, Alberta Infrastructure, Amron Construction, FWB Architects, the Drowning Ford Grazing Association and the Schuler/Hilda community.
